A member of our community recently (April 18, 2019) distributed a personal email entitled "YARD WASTE : Just an FYI for everyone"; where the email states:
Just found out Recology picks up yard/compost waste BUT IT GOES IN AS GARBAGE! Just got off the phone with the supervisor and asked him to come up here to see if a regular sized garbage truck can make it up the mountain - it was not revisited when the new company took over.
Apparently, they are not required to pick-up on a private road either but we were grandfathered in. We are paying the same as everyone else, so I believe we should be getting the same service…they’re working on it - so he said.
Do with it what you will.
I'm also concerned about the impact a larger truck would have on our already severely compromised Private road. I'd suggest an impact study on the road should follow by the community, if they agree to service our private road with a larger truck.
This information is very helpful and needs time and options researched. However, I feel the need to proceed cautiously and respectfully without a demand of "rights" based on current charges/fees, given that in the present situation our yard cans are not counted as trash.
I'm grateful they allow us to separate at the curb, and take our compost, not counting it as trash in our small 20 gal. containers. I'd be concerned I'd need to pay more for a larger trash container, since apparently they are not currently obligated to take our compost/yard waste as "Yard Waste".
Caution:
Whoever speaks to this "concern" or issue with Recology should not speak for the this mountain private road Sunrise Mountain community, or…
